What we do

Since 2016, NBHD has been supporting and championing Birmingham's grassroots music scene. Through open jams, live shows and creative projects, we create spaces where artists can perform, meet new collaborators and help push the city's music culture forward.

Our events

NBHD events are built around live music and real collaboration. From our open jam nights to curated shows and special one-off projects, we create space for musicians to step on stage, try things out and play with people they might never have met before. Every night is different — new sounds, new link-ups, and moments that only happen when the right people end up in the same room.

Our community

NBHD is where Birmingham's creatives collide. Musicians, rappers, singers, DJs, producers and artists all end up in the same room — and you never quite know who you might be standing next to. A future bandmate, a collaborator, or someone who ends up on your next track. A lot of the collaborations and projects in the scene today started with a simple conversation at NBHD.

a brum collectiveAboutNBHD

A Birmingham music collective started in 2016 to build the kind of nights we wanted to play at — open, loud, collaborative and rooted in the city. Ten years later, we're still doing exactly that.

Our Story

NBHD started in 2016 with a simple idea: Birmingham's grassroots musicians needed a room of their own. A regular night where you could turn up, plug in, play, and find the people you'd been looking for.

What began as a monthly open jam grew into a collective — running curated live shows, supporting artists with their first releases, and turning The Night Owl in Digbeth into a fixture on the city's music calendar.

This November, NBHD turns ten — a decade of turning up, plugging in and playing.

We're not a label. We're not a promoter. We're the room.

NBHD's home is The Night Owl in Digbeth — Birmingham's beloved Northern Soul & Motown venue. Low ceilings, sticky floors, and a soundsystem that earns its keep.

What we collect

If you join our mailing list we store the first name and email address you give us, and the date you gave them. That is it. We do not buy or sell contact data.

Why we collect it

To tell you about upcoming NBHD events, lineups and ticket releases. Nothing else. Our mailing list runs on Mailchimp, so your details are stored on their servers under their privacy terms. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to remove you at any time by emailing neighbourhdbrum@gmail.com.

Cookies and local storage

This site stores one small item in your browser to remember your cookie choice. If you accept, we may also remember locally that you have already signed up, so the form does not ask twice. If you decline, we store only the choice itself and clear anything else we had set. We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking.

Tickets

Tickets are sold and handled by Skiddle. When you buy a ticket you are dealing with Skiddle directly and their privacy policy applies to that transaction. NBHD does not receive or store your payment details.

Photography at events

NBHD nights are photographed and filmed, and images may appear on this site and on our social channels. If you would like a photo of you removed, email us and we will take it down.

Embedded content

Pages on this site embed a Spotify player and load fonts from Google Fonts. Those services may set their own cookies and receive your IP address. We do not control what they collect. The map on our About page is provided by Google Maps and may set cookies when it loads.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us what data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email neighbourhdbrum@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.

About us

NBHD (Neighbourhd) is a Birmingham-based music collective. Contact: neighbourhdbrum@gmail.com.

Using this site

Event details, lineups and times are published in good faith and can change. We will always update this site and @neighbourhdbrum as quickly as we can, but check before you travel.

Tickets and refunds

Tickets are sold through Skiddle. Your contract for a ticket is with Skiddle and their terms — including anything about refunds, exchanges and cancellations — apply. If an event is cancelled or rescheduled we will announce it here and on social, and Skiddle will handle refunds under their policy.

At the venue

NBHD events are usually 18+ unless stated otherwise. The Night Owl’s own admission policy applies, and entry is at the venue’s discretion. We ask everyone in the room to look after each other; abusive or discriminatory behaviour will get you removed.

Open jam and open stage

Anyone can play. Slots are allocated on the night at the hosts’ discretion and we cannot guarantee stage time. Bring your own instrument where you can — backline is limited.

Content and credit

Photography, video and design on this site belong to their creators and are used with permission. Please do not reuse them commercially without asking. If something here is yours and uncredited, tell us and we will fix it.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, this site is provided as-is.

Accessibility

What we have done, what we know about, and how to tell us what is missing.

This website

We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That means: every page is keyboard-navigable with a visible focus ring, images carry alternative text, colour contrast is checked against our dark background, headings run in a logical order, and all motion — including the hero slideshow and the scrolling tickers — stops if your device is set to reduce motion.

Known limitations

  • The Spotify player is an embedded third-party component and we do not control its accessibility.
  • Page addresses use a #/ prefix, which some older assistive tech handles awkwardly. A move to standard URLs is planned.
  • Some archive photography is low-light and detail may be hard to make out; captions describe what is happening.

The Night Owl

Our home venue is a converted industrial building in Digbeth. Step-free access, toilets and any specific requirements are best checked with the venue directly before you travel — and tell us too, so we can help on the night.

If something on this site or at our events blocks you, email neighbourhdbrum@gmail.com. We would rather hear it than not.
